Sunny ways, my friend. Sunny ways.

"Sunny ways my friends, sunny ways" Trudeau said in his 2015 victory speech, quoting Laurier (who originally was referring to a fable by Aesop).

I will confess when I heard Justin Trudeau make that reference, my eyeballs did a little trip to the back of my head.  Sure - it was time for Harper (the man who thought a snitch line for folks to tell on their neighbours was a good idea) to go  - but after a 150 years of swinging back and forth between the same two parties, sick of their perceived evils and expecting something different, did we really think the sun was coming out this time? Did we think it would be different?

I'm not surprised that Justin didn't live up to his ‘bright talk.’

Even more - I'm terrified that Andrew Scheer is a mini Stephen who will usher back in dark shit under the pretense of "security and jobs."

I believe security comes from ensuring universal access to basic human rights, including education and healthcare for all.

I believe that good, long term jobs come from accessible education alongside the willingness to tackle the single biggest issue which affects us all: our environment.  I believe clean energy is not only possible, but the best opportunity for our mutual long term prosperity.

So what can we do?

We can demand transparency and science informed decision-making for the well-being of many instead of the wealth of the few.  We can reject the politics of fear and division. Let us not fall prey to the same rhetoric as our southern neighbours.

I believe that we ALL have a responsibility to vote and participate in our government. I encourage you all to take some time and learn about your local candidates and the platforms that the various parties are running on.
